WHAT’S NEXT: Lawmakers return to Lansing Thursday for their first session in five weeks. The Senate already has approved the health exchange; now Snyder would like the House to do the same. Lawmakers aren’t scheduled to be in session again until mid-August.
WHAT’S THE HANGUP: Some House Republicans say any action on the exchange should be put off until November. That’s when they’ll know if GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney wins the White House and Republicans capture the U.S. Senate, making it possible some parts of the health care law will be repealed. But further delay may mean Michigan must let the federal government set up the exchange, rather than setting up its own.
