THE DAILY OUTRAGE: Signs of the times

Who: Ohio Department of Transportation

What: Spending $1 million on signs identifying road projects paid for with federal stimulus money. The state ordered that these signs be placed to show taxpayers “where the stimulus dollars went,” according to spokesman Scott Varner.

Why it’s an outrage: The Federal Highway Administration encouraged these signs, but it didn’t make them mandatory, meaning that common sense should have taken precedent. The government’s spending binge shouldn’t be compounded by even more ridiculous spending.

Where to vent: Call Varner at the Ohio Department of Transportation at 614-644-8640.
