Anne Arundel had 53 students without the required hepatitis B and chickenpox vaccinations as of Monday, said school spokesman Tony Ruffin.
That includes 45 high school students and eight middle school students who are not allowed to attend school until they begin the vaccination process, Ruffin said.
They must show proof of vaccination for hepatitis B and chickenpox, or doctor?s proof that they?ve already had chickenpox, to return to school.
Students who did not comply by Jan. 2 were not allowed to return to school under the law. In Anne Arundel on that day, 993 students in the county were without vaccinations. Nearly all have since gotten vaccinations and been readmitted to classes.
