UPDATE, 4:44 p.m.: A 39-year-old man was killed and a 38-year-old man was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, said Officer Shelley Broderick, a police spokeswoman. She the slaying happened at a barbershop located at 1606 Belle View Blvd. The suspect entered the shop and fired several rounds before fleeing, Broderick said.
ORIGINAL POST, 3:18 p.m.: Police are investigating a report that two people were shot near a Fairfax County shopping center Wednesday afternoon.
Officers received a report of shots fired on the 1600 block of Belle View Boulevard, near the Belle View Shopping Center, at about 2:15 p.m., said Officer Don Gotthardt, a Fairfax police spokesman.
He said police believe there are two victims. Further details about the victims and their conditions were not available.
Police are looking for an Asian man who is about 30 to 40 years old and 5 feet 5 inches tall, Gotthardt said. The man was wearing dark clothes. He said helicopter and canine teams are searching the area.
Gotthardt said he didn’t know whether the victims were targeted or if the shooting was random.
