Joe Rogan called the attacks on him a “political hit job” as efforts continue to silence The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, which holds a massive audience and is known for its independent streak.
In recent weeks, Rogan has faced scrutiny for spreading misinformation regarding COVID-19 treatments by featuring controversial interviews. A video compilation of him using racial slurs during his podcasts over the past 12 years also surfaced.
The podcaster talked about the continuing criticism with comedian, actor, and fellow podcaster Akaash Singh on his show Tuesday, noting the racial slur video “had always been out there.”

“This is a political hit job,” Rogan said. “They’re taking all this stuff that I’ve ever said that’s wrong and smushing it all together.”
Rogan acknowledged that he was thankful for the opportunity to apologize and “address some s*** that I really wish wasn’t out there,” calling it a “relief in a lot of ways.”

Singh, who hosts The Flagrant Pod with comedian Andrew Schulz, praised Rogan for apologizing for the video.
“You should apologize if you regret something,” Rogan said. “But I do think you have to be very careful to not apologize for nonsense.”
