Cindy McCain becomes ambassador to UN food agency

Cindy McCain will be helping nations worldwide with food instability.

McCain, the widow of the late Sen. John McCain, an Arizona Republican, was confirmed Tuesday to be the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Agencies for Food and Agriculture.

“It’s official!!” Cindy McCain wrote on Twitter.

Biden had selected Cindy McCain for the position in June.

She and the McCain family have long been allies of the Bidens, although her daughter and former The View co-host Meghan McCain criticized Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Sen. Mark Kelly, an Arizona Democrat, helped effectuate Cindy McCain’s confirmation on the Senate floor.
