Corey Lewandowski: Only Trump comes to mind for Time’s ‘Person of the Year’

Former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski said that he doesn’t know who else is worthy of Time Magazine’s “Person of the Year” award besides President Trump.

“The mainstream media has never wanted to give this president the credit that he’s deserved. I don’t know who else can be the Time Magazine ‘Person of the Year’ other than our president, Donald Trump,” Lewandowski said Saturday on “Fox and Friends.”

The former Trump aide was responding to a controversy that began when the president tweeted Friday that he declined to be this year’s winner of the coveted spot.

“Time Magazine called to say that I was PROBABLY going to be named ‘Man (Person) of the Year,’ like last year, but I would have to agree to an interview and a major photo shoot. I said probably is no good and took a pass. Thanks anyway!”, he tweeted.

The tweet quickly circulated on social media, and Twitter users joked and made spoofs of their own offers from Time.

Time denied the president’s boast, saying, “The President is incorrect about how we choose Person of the Year. TIME does not comment on our choice until publication, which is December 6.”

Lewandowski, while not an official spokesperson for the Trump administration, has often defended the president in the spotlight since parting ways with Trump’s campaign last year.
