DENVER (AP) — Thanks to a new law, Vail Resorts Inc. plans to host a range of summer activities including alpine coasters and SUV tours on federal land that it previously could use only for skiing and snowboarding.

Vail Resorts said Thursday it has submitted a proposal to the U.S. Forest Service for summer activities at Vail Mountain and plans to do the same for its Breckenridge, Keystone and Beaver Creek resorts in coming months. If approved, construction at Vail could begin in the summer or fall of 2013.
