After a two-alarm fire destroyed the Columbia Heights home of Dorothy Brizill and Gary Imhoff, founders of DC Watch, other city watchdogs and activists are pitching in to help get them back on their feet. The group is establishing an emergency relief fund and is asking individuals and organizations to donate whatever they can afford.
The committee members are:

- Robert Vincent Branum, president emeritus, the D.C. Federation of Citizens Associations

- Herbert Harris, Jr., D.C. Consumer Utility Board
- Ann Loikow
- Joslyn N. Williams, president, Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO
- Nathan Saunders, president, Washington Teachers Union
- Yolanda Woodlee, former reporter, The Washington Post
“For the past 30 years, Brizill and Imhoff have dedicated themselves and their time, energy, talents, and money to improving communities throughout the District of Columbia. It doesn’t matter where they live, Washingtonians and their neighbors have surely benefitted from their tireless work,” a press release announcing the committee says.
Individuals and organizations are asked to donate whatever they can afford. Checks should be mailed to The Emergency Relief Fund for Brizill and Imhoff, c/o PNC Bank, 800 17th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20006 Attn: Maggie.
