Democrat plans resolution condemning Trump remarks

A top Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee will introduce a resolution condemning comments President Trump made Sunday about a small group of minority, ultra-liberal lawmakers.

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, said she’ll draft the resolution against Trump’s remarks.

Trump in a Sunday tweet called for Democratic Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, and Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts to “go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how it is done.”

Democrats and Trump critics are calling the tweet racist.

But Trump is not backing down.

On Monday he called on the four women to “apologize to our country, the people of Israel and even to the Office of the President, for the foul language they have used and the terrible things they have said.”

Tlaib and Omar have been criticized for anti-Israel tweets and remarks. Tlaib has used foul language in her pledge to impeach Trump.
