Vladimir Putin jokingly asked President Trump before their first in-person meeting Friday if the press shouting questions at him were “the ones hurting” him.
“These are the ones, you’re right about that,” Trump responded according to a video from the Intercept.
Putin’s question came after members of the press at the G-20 summit in Hamburg, Germany, shouted if Trump was going to bring up Russian interference with the 2016 election. Trump has also long waged a war of words against what he calls the “fake news,” singling out news outlets like CNN and the New York Times.
Putin said in his press conference Saturday at the end of the summit that Trump asked a lot of questions about meddling, with which the Russian president has denied any involvement.
