Fishing lure maker plans NE Indiana expansion

ORLAND, Ind. (AP) — A company that makes fishing lures and components is expanding its northeastern Indiana operations.

LureCraft Fisherman’s Shop announced Wednesday it would spend about $400,000 to buy and equip a 22,000 square-foot facility in the Steuben (stoo-BEN’) County town of Orland. The company says that will give it about triple its current space in LaGrange and allow it to add about 90 workers in the next couple years.

LureCraft makes liquid soft plastic, coloring, plastic molds and aluminum molds, which fisherman and other companies use to make and assemble fishing lures.

The company says it has been awarded a contract for a line of fishing lures featured in the National Geographic Channel series “Wicked Tuna” that will be sold online and in sporting goods stores around the country.
