Hillary Clinton’s national lead over Donald Trump remained virtually unchanged over the last week, despite broad agreement that Clinton performed better in the first presidential debate.
According to an NBC News/SurveyMonkey Weekly Election Tracking Poll, Clinton leads Trump 46-40 in a four-way race, and is ahead 50-44 in a two-way race, virtually unchanged from the week before. The survey was conducted in the days following the first debate.
Clinton leads Trump with women, 52-34, but Trump leads among men, 47-38.
The poll indicates that younger people support Clinton, while older married people are more likely to support Trump. It said 67 percent of women who have never been married, and 51 percent of men who have never been married, support Clinton.
But Clinton’s lead among married women is smaller, 48-40, and Trump leads 52-35 among married men.
The online poll of 26,925 likely voters nationwide was conducted Sept. 26-Oct. 2 and carries a margin of error of plus or minus 1.0 percentage points.
