Prince George’s County will be settling a lawsuit brought by the mayor of Berwyn Heights whose two dogs were killed during SWAT raid. Police believed Mayor Cheye Calvo was part of a marijuana distribution ring when they raided his house in 2008 and killed his dogs. But it turned out Calvo had no idea marijuana was inside a package that was shipped to his home by drug dealers. The drug ring, police later said, likely meant to intercept the package before Calvo brought it inside.
On Monday, County Executive Rushern Baker said the county plans to finalize a settlement with Calvo by Feb. 24. No dollar amount was given.
