Alger, the senior vice president of Rutgers University, was picked Monday to become James Madison University’s sixth president. He’ll replace Linwood Rose, who is retiring from the Harrisonburg school in June. Alger is a graduate of Harvard Law School and Swarthmore College. Before coming to Rutgers he was assistant general counsel at the University of Michigan.
