Police: 10 arrested during safe-driving campaign

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Efforts to step up enforcement of Rhode Island’s seat belt law and encourage safe driving during Thanksgiving week resulted in hundreds of tickets and several arrests.

State police say 10 people were arrested for allegedly driving under the influence and 214 were issued summonses for seat belt or child restraint violations. Authorities also issued 749 moving violations.
