Susan Collins: Sexual assault allegations against Trump still ‘very disturbing’

Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, said the sexual assault allegations against President Trump are still “very disturbing,” and that is why she did not support him during the primary season.

“He did say that,” Collins told George Stephanopoulos during an appearance ABC’s “This Week” early Sunday when he noted Trump has said all of the women making accusations against him are lying.

“President Trump was not my choice for the Republican nominee for president and I did not support him in part because of the way that all of these reports about how he was treating women,” Collins explained.

Collins said he still is president, and she is still working with him on various issues.

“But those allegations remain very disturbing,” she said.

Trump has slammed Democratic Sen. Al Franken for the allegations of sexual misconduct against him, but has been silent on Roy Moore, the Republican candidate for Alabama senate.

Moore has denied the allegations of inappropriate sexual misconduct from eight women.

“Look, the president believes these allegations are very troubling and should be taken seriously, and he thinks the people of Alabama should make the decision on who their senator should be,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Thursday.
