Are Americans getting even fatter?

A new report from the Trust for America’s Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation estimates that more than 44 percent of people in every state would be obese — not fat, but clinically obese — by 2030, up from today’s 36 percent. Mississippi would remain the fattest state, with an obesity rate of 66 percent by 2030, up from today’s 35 percent. Colorado, the skinniest state with about 20 percent obesity, would jump to 44 percent.

Is Tim Tebow going into politics?

The New York Jets quarterback has opened the door to a possible second career in politics, telling ESPN that “I haven’t ruled it out.” Not that Tebow has any immediate plans to leave the NFL. Running for office is something that could come after he’s done playing pro ball. “It won’t be anytime soon in my future, but it’ll be something I’ll at least look at and consider one day,” he said.

Are father-daughter dances illegal in Rhode Island?

The gender-specific dances, along with mother-son baseball games, were banned by one school district but remain in place in the rest of the state. After reviewing an ACLU complaint on behalf of a woman whose daughter doesn’t have a dad, the school district’s lawyers determined that such gender-specific events are exempted from federal discrimination laws but violate state law. School officials have asked state lawmakers to change the law.
