Farragut West Metro Station in downtown D.C. has reopened after it was evacuated Monday afternoon amid reports of a bomb threat.
The Metro’s Metrorail Info account tweeted at approximately 4:38 p.m. that Orange, Silver, and Blue Line trains were bypassing the station due to a “police investigation.” The account tweeted at 5:09 p.m. that the station had reopened.
Although shuttle buses were initially requested following the incident, they were subsequently canceled once the station reopened.

Media reports indicated that Metro employees said the station was evacuated due to a bomb threat.
Video posted to Twitter showed people being evacuated from the station, which is located next to Farragut West a few blocks Northwest of the White House.

A spokesperson for Metro Transit Police confirmed to the Washington Examiner that service had resumed and said that trains bypassed the station as police looked into an “unsubstantiated threat.” The spokesperson did not confirm whether the threat was a bomb threat.
Thunderstorms were also hitting the area just as the evacuations were taking place.
