Three injured in two early morning New York City shootings

At least three people were injured by shootings in two separate New York City boroughs.

Amid a national conversation about violent crime in inner cities and metropolitan areas, police reported shootings in Brooklyn and the Bronx early Friday morning.

Authorities told the New York Post that two Brooklyn men were shot at around 2 a.m. during a dispute. One was shot in the leg, and the other was shot in the chest. Both men were taken to Brooklyn Methodist Hospital and are in stable condition.

No arrests have been made as police continue their investigation, according to News 12 Bronx.

Two hours later, a 42-year-old man was shot in the leg in a Bronx neighborhood University Heights. Police labeled the incident a dispute and attempted robbery. The middle-aged man was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital for treatment and is also in stable condition.

On Thursday alone, the New York Police Department reported a total of nine shooting incidents and 11 victims.
