Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-ND) suffered a “serious” injury to his hand over the weekend that could require amputation.
Cramer said he is “in good spirits” and will miss votes and hearings this week while he prepares to undergo surgery back home in North Dakota, but he plans to return to Washington, D.C., after Independence Day.
“While working in the yard over the weekend, I sustained a serious injury to my right hand, which required immediate surgery. I continue to remain in North Dakota close to medical care as there is high risk of infection and the possible need for amputation,” he announced.

Cramer has served as a senator for the Roughrider State since 2019. Alongside Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA), Cramer was one of two Republicans who did not cast votes on bipartisan gun legislation that advanced in the Senate Tuesday evening. It appears that his absence was related to his injury.
