Dr. Phil speechless? Get real.
It was Dr. Phil?s turn to be a smiling, silent partner on Wednesday as he stood beside his wife of 30-plus years, Robin McGraw, at a book signing at LifeWay Christian Store in White Marsh for her new release, “Inside My Heart.”
The 221-page book details McGraw?s life as a young woman, a wife and a mother. Her personal journey to spiritual happiness is also a main topic. “I?m really proud of the book, and I hope to inspire women to find passion in their life and choose to do what it takes to make them happy,” McGraw said in a statement provided by communications for Dr. Phil.
Frieda Fields, 30, of Baltimore City, had tears in her eyes as she inched closer in line to McGraw. “She?s very inspirational. When I saw her on TV promoting her book, I had to get it,” she said. “[She] reminds me of myself, and I think she?s a very good role model.”
Dr. Phil stood by his wife?s side as she signed copy after copy of her book, leaving temporarily to talk to television reporters while side-stepping the print media. His handlers said he was too busy to comment, but he gladly posed for picture after picture for screaming fans.
“I read her book and just felt very connected to her,” said Baltimore County resident Tracey Boguski, 29,. Boguski, who came to the signing with her four children in tow, brought a bracelet she had made especially for McGraw. “[My sister and I] are starting our own jewelry business, and [McGraw?s book] gave us the extra oomph, the inspiration, to do it.”
Robin Schneider, 45, of Hamilton, had been waiting to see the author since 8 a.m. “I think Robin is such an inspiration,” she said. “I love it when she talks about her role as a wife and mother, and I love how she works with Dr. Phil but is her own person.”
One of the few men who could be found in the store, 53-year-old Dennis Kinsey of Perry Hall, said that the McGraws? relationship reminds him of his own because they “support each other. It is also reassuring to meet people who are in the celebrity spotlight that have a 30-year marriage. They are people like us.”
