That?s a big 10-4 for a job well-done

Talk-show host Ed Norris (105.7-FM) took his WHFS show to Steve?s 40 East Family Diner off Pulaski Highway recently for a “Happy Trucker Day” tribute. “We wanted to tip our hats to the hard-working truckers who keep American rolling,” Norris said.

Truckers and listeners filled the family-owned restaurant with toys and cash donations for the
Marine Corps Reserve?s Toys for Tots program. Guest host ? and trucker ?
Dan Lewis joined the show?s producer and co-host
Maynard Edwards and Norris. During a commercial break, Lewis challenged the audience to match cash for each of his one-armed pushups. He did 20, and in four hours the show brought in more than 2,500 toys and $2,000. “It?s for the kids,” Lewis shouted. “That?s what we?re here for.”

GREAT PARTY, GREAT CAUSE

Jim Seay, president of Premier Rides and one of the country?s pre-eminent roller-coaster designers, held his annual holiday bash recently, and, as usual, it was a thrill a minute. His Canton waterfront home was decked out with a gorgeous tree and hundreds of toys, also for the Toys For Tots campaign, which were brought by guests.

There was a different holiday theme for each floor, and even the bartenders were dressed as elves.

Enjoying the fare ? by Kali?s Mezze ? were Brian Lawrence of Style magazine, Candace Dold of Fox 45, Larry Macklin, senior VP at Bank of America, state Sen. Catherine Pugh, Dr. Steve Sobelman, Jami Kofsky of Kimberly Clark, developer Pat Turner and his wife, Jeanine, and Deni and Neil Tabor of Ashley Homes.
