Capitol Police arrest driver after finding gun and ammo in car

Police have arrested a driver after they found a gun and ammunition in his car on a street close to the Capitol.

According to U.S. Capitol Police spokesperson Eva Malecki, an officer “observed what appeared to be a firearm in a parked vehicle,” on New Jersey Avenue, near the Capitol.

When the driver returned, the car was searched and police found the weapon, ammunition, and other undisclosed items.

The driver was arrested, Makecki said.

Police said they do not believe the incident is related to terrorism “at this time.”
