A chief deputy U.S. Marshal had sexual relations with multiple women who he invited to his government office, and returned the favor by offering them prime parking spots outside the building, according to a Justice Department Office of the Inspector General (OIG) report released Monday.
The OIG opened an investigation into the unnamed marshal after receiving a tip that he had been “engaging in sexual activity with numerous different women within government space,” the report stated.
“The OIG also found that in connection with his personal relationships, the CDUSM allowed multiple unauthorized non-government employees whom he was dating to park their personal vehicles within and in front of government property,” according to a statement.
Investigators were able to confirm the allegations and said he also drove his dog in his assigned official government vehicle, which is a violation of USMS policy.
Officials concluded the marshal had attempted to impede OIG’s probe, made a false statement to the OIG, and gave unauthorized disclosure of nonpublic information.
“The OIG substantiated the allegation that the CDUSM … contacted some of the women identified and encouraged them not to disclose to the OIG any information concerning their sexual activity within the government space, and initially lied to the OIG about his sexual activity on government property,” the statement added.
The man will not be prosecuted.
