J. Hogan Gidley, a longtime Republican strategist, will be the the next deputy press secretary at the White House.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders confirmed to the Washington Examiner that Gidley would begin Wednesday.
“Yes. He starts tomorrow and will work alongside Lindsay and Raj as an additional Deputy Press Secretary,” Sanders said, likely referring to Lindsay Walters and Raj Shah, who are members of the White House communications team.
News of Gidley’s new role was first reported by Fin Gomez, a producer for Fox News.

The position was previously held by Sanders.
Sanders was named to her current position after former White House press secretary Sean Spicer announced he was resigning in July when Anthony Scaramucci was named White House communications director. Scaramucci’s tenure in the White house lasted less than two weeks.
