MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The head of Wisconsin’s semi-private agency charged with creating jobs says Democrats appear to want to discredit the agency based on a letter they sent seeking a public hearing on recent problems.
Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation head Paul Jadin says in a response Tuesday to Democrats on the Legislature’s budget writing committee that he’d be happy to appear before the panel and meet privately with lawmakers.
But he says he was disappointed in the tone and characterizations made in the letter in which Democrats expressed “serious concerns” regarding how WEDC is operating and its job creation efforts.
Jadin says numerous issues raised in the letter inaccurately portrayed what is going on, including the rescinded offer of tax breaks to information technology company Skyward.
