NBC News on Friday released a video showing events leading up to the fatal police shooting of Keith Lamont Scott in Charlotte, N.C., which led to riots in the city during the week.
The video was taken by Scott’s wife, and while it does not show the shooting, she can be heard pleading with police not to shoot her husband.
She says several times that her husband is on medication, and implores him, “Keith, don’t you do it.”
The incident has once again raised questions about police tactics, and prompted the Obama administration’s Justice Department to send officials to Charlotte to help ease tensions.
Police in Charlotte have yet to release their official video account of the event.
