The Daily Outrage: Not bad for a peanut farmer

Who: National Park Service What: Used $67,841 of taxpayers’ money to clean the exterior of former President Jimmy Carter’s home last year. After Mr. Carter and his wife pass away, the home will be added to the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site, whose budget has grown 32 percent over the past five years to $1.704 million in 2010.

Why it’s an outrage: There is no reason Americans should pay such a substantial amount for Carter’s lavish retirement. His tennis courts are swept twice a day and the pool is cleaned daily.

Who to vent: Call the inspector general at 202-208-5745.
