Roll out the red carpet!
Last week, we wrote about Bob McDonnell’s brush with fame — if being the governor of a state where Clint Eastwood trod is a brush with fame. And this week, it seems McDonnell may have even more to get excited about: Steven Spielberg!
Move over, Hollywood. Clues abound that Virginia will be the filming site of Spielberg’s next movie, about none other than Honest Abe Lincoln himself.
First, there’s the amendment to the state’s budget that adds $1.5 million to Virginia’s Motion Picture Opportunity Fund.
Second, there’s the fact that the $1.5 million is necessary because $500,000 “was set aside for the Spielberg movie,” according to the Post.
Now, it seems that no one is quite ready to admit that Spielberg is, in fact, Virginia-bound. We imagine this is because the Hollywood types are hiding behind their sunglasses and too-white teeth and cleansing fruit drinks. If one is to believe the Washington Post, however, it might have something to do with less-than-transparent state officials, too.
