CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — A Canadian National freight train is back on track after derailing in southeastern Michigan and blocking traffic on several major roads for several hours.
WWJ-AM says the train derailed about 4 a.m. Sunday in Macomb County’s Clinton Township, about 20 miles northeast of Detroit.
Police tell WXYZ-TV that a broken axle on the Canadian National Railway Co. caused the crash and says no one was injured.
Officials say crews were able to get the rail cars back on track early Sunday afternoon and traffic was able to resume.
