Former Playboy model apologizes to Melania Trump for alleged affair

Former Playboy model Karen McDougal apologized to first lady Melania Trump on Thursday for her alleged extramarital affair with President Trump from 2006 to 2007.

“What can you say, except, I’m sorry?” McDougal told CNN.

McDougal, who said she voted for Trump in the 2016 election, also teared up when describing the guilt she felt over the relationship.

“I’m really sorry for that. I know it’s a wrong thing to do.”

A spokeswoman for Melania Trump did not immediately respond to the Washington Examiner’s request for comment.

The White House, however, previously issued a blanket denial regarding the affair.

McDougal on Tuesday sued American Media Inc., the National Enquirer’s parent company, to be released from a 2016 legal agreement that forces her to not speak of the relationship.

McDougal’s lawsuit alleges that Trump’s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, was covertly involved in the deal, in which American Media Inc. paid McDougal $150,000 for exclusive rights to her story. But an article was never published.

McDougal is the second woman to take legal action against Trump after claiming to have had an affair with the president. The first was adult film actress Stormy Daniels, whose legal name is Stephanie Clifford, filing a suit over a nondisclosure contract dispute earlier in March.
