Alexandria will begin issuing tickets to motorists caught on camera running red lights.

The city placed red-light camers at three intersections earlier this summer. Starting Monday, motorists who are captured running red lights will receive citations and fines, Alexandria police said.

For the past month, the cameras have been operating, but violators only received a warning.

The cameras are located at the intersections of South Patrick and Fra3nklin streets, South Patrick and Gibbon streets, and Duke and South Walker streets.

The cameras will operate 24 hours a day, according to Alexandria police. Warning signs about the cameras have been installed at the intersections.
