A Zionist organization is urging 2020 presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders to sever ties with Palestinian activist Linda Sarsour for remarks she has made.
Sarsour, 39, is a controversial figure for her activism and comments many have deemed anti-Semitic. Since leaving the Women’s March, she has become an advocate for the Sanders campaign.
The Zionist Organization of America issued a statement recently urging Sanders “to immediately disassociate himself from vicious Jew-hater Linda Sarsour.”
“It is particularly painful that Jewish Senator Bernie Sanders is (again, as he did in 2016) employing vicious Jew-hater and terrorism promoter Linda Sarsour as a campaign surrogate,” the statement continued.
Manhattan billionaire Ronald Lauder issued a statement echoing that sentiment to the New York Post, “Linda Sarsour is a virulent anti-Semite who has publicly stated that ‘nothing is creepier than Zionism.’ Her views have no place in our political discourse and any candidate who associates with her is guilty of handing a megaphone to anti-Semites around the country.”
In response to the criticism of their partnership, Sanders press secretary Briahna Joy Gray told the Post, “She’s been a wonderful spokesperson and continues to be surrogate for the campaign.”
Sanders tweeted a clip of Sarsour speaking at one of his rallies earlier this month.
