Iraqi Premier: ISIS ‘weeks away’ from military defeat in Iraq

The leader of Iraq is confident that the military defeat of Islamic State is imminent, but he said that the organization still has the capability to conduct terror attacks.

“I think the defeat is definite and we will finish the job in a short time,” said Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on Fox News Sunday.

Al-Abadi later said that the terrorist organization can be defeated militarily in the next few weeks. Iraqi and U.S. forces have been engaged in a major effort to free the Iraqi city of Mosul from ISIS rule.

But he said that the threat from ISIS would not be eradicated.

“That is where we need the efforts of others to flush them out of Syria and other places,” he said.
