The Maryland Jockey Club on Thursday officially announced its support for the November referendum on slot machines, which would raise an estimated $100 million annually to support the state’s horse racing industry.
The referendum “will help preserve Maryland racing, which is supported by thousands of employees, hundreds of horse farms, including thousands of acres of green space,” said Tom Chuckas, president and chief operating officer of Pimlico Race Course and Laurel Park.
