A Philadelphia man shot and killed one of three men accused of attempting to steal his car on Tuesday morning, police say.
The suspects tried to pull the man’s car away with straps near South 58th Street and Cobbs Creek Parkway, according to witnesses, but were soon confronted by the car’s owner, CBS 3 reports.

Police say the owner, who appeared to be licensed to carry a firearm, shot at the three men, who fled in a Honda before crashing the vehicle into a school bus.
One of the suspects, a 52-year-old man, was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Police have not determined if the incident was a carjacking or attempted car theft and shooting.

As of Friday, there have been 100 carjackings in Philadelphia since the beginning of 2022, police say. Commissioner Danielle Outlaw plans to deploy a task force focused solely on combating carjackings in the city.
Earlier this month, a Philadelphia Lyft driver shot and killed two suspects who were trying to carjack him while he was driving a passenger, police said. The driver was also reportedly licensed to carry a firearm.
