Alison Lundergan Grimes, the Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in Kentucky, refused to answer multiple questions about whether she voted for Democrat Barack Obama for president.
In a Thursday meeting with the editors of the Courier-Journal in Louisville, Grimes was asked if she voted for Obama in 2008 or in 2012. “You know, this election, it isn’t about the president,” Grimes begins.
The questioner continued to ask her, and Grimes continued to dodge the question. She said she was a delegate for Hillary Clinton in 2008 and said she “respects the sanctity of the ballot box.” Watch the video below:
Grimes had plenty of preparation from her campaign on how to appeal to the liberal-leaning editorial board at the Courier-Journal, although there was nothing her campaign’s memo about how to address her support (or lack thereof) for President Obama. Obama lost Kentucky in 2008 and 2010 by double digits.
