Students get introduction to engineering

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — The University of Louisville is giving some high school students a glimpse into what they can do with an engineering career.

The summer program will touch on options ranging from environmental engineering to bioengineering in health care fields.

Thirty area students will attend the Brown-Forman INSPIRE summer enrichment program from June 11-28 at UofL’s J.B. Speed School of Engineering.

The program is meant to open up engineering’s career opportunities, especially to minority and female students who traditionally are underrepresented in that profession.

The program is free to the students, whose teachers and guidance counselors recommended them based on above-average science and math skills.

This year’s program has been filled.
