The Metro system is supposed to have full cell phone service on all carriers up and running throughout the rail system by October.
The system initially added service to the 20 busiest underground stations in October 2009, a requirement as part of a federal funding agreement.
Slowly, a few more of the 27 remaining below-ground stations have been coming on line, bit by bit. Sometimes they blip out again after a few days as crews tweak or test new equipment.
But we’re hearing reports from riders and readers that service beyond Verizon is working consistently now at some new stations.
