Social media data show the majority of the country supports comedian Chris Rock after actor Will Smith slapped him during the 94th Academy Awards Sunday.
Based on a map released by BetOnline.ag, an online sports gambling company that marks geotagged Twitter data, only nine of the 50 states support Will Smith’s behavior.

Rock joked about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, sporting a bald head caused by alopecia, a condition that causes hair loss. Smith did not approve and walked to the stage to slap Rock before yelling, “Keep my wife’s name out of your f***ing mouth.”
The betting firm reportedly tracked more than 200,000 tweets that included hashtags such as #TeamChris or #TeamWill, as well as supportive phrases for either celebrity.

The nine states supportive of Smith included Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Mississippi, Alabama, South Carolina, and New Hampshire, with Mississippi leading the way with 75.4% support.
Of the 41 states to stand by Rock, Maine led with 98.2% rallying behind the comedian.

Rock has declined to press charges, and Smith has apologized for his “unacceptable and inexcusable” behavior. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced an investigation into the altercation, but Whoopi Goldberg, the governor of the Academy’s Actors branch, said stripping Will Smith of his Oscar will not be a part of any disciplinary action.
