Texas Sen. Ted Cruz mocked MSNBC host Joe Scarborough after he shared a manipulated video that purportedly showed Vice President Mike Pence delivering “empty” boxes of protective medical gear to a hospital in Virginia.
“Joe, you chased after Trump for 2 years like a teenage girl throwing her panties at the latest boy band; now you pretend to be this indignant paragon of virtue outraged at everything he says & does,” tweeted Cruz. “All to get invited to DC cocktail parties & thrill the 13 people watching MSNBC.”

The full video of Pence’s visit to the hospital revealed that the video Scarborough shared had been edited to create a fake narrative. The video was initially boosted by late-night TV host Jimmy Kimmel, who also apologized for spreading disinformation.
Scarborough apologized and deleted the tweet but later took offense to a tweet Cruz sent in the afternoon criticizing Scarborough’s rush to share the video without validating the veracity of its claims.
“Hmm,” tweeted Cruz. “When you’re on the defensive for being dishonest & corrupt, perhaps best not to forward fraudulent stories from Jimmy Kimmel (that he’s admitted were false)? You are claiming to be a journalist, after all…”
Scarborough accused Cruz of living “in shame” because he often defends President Trump, who once accused Cruz’s father of assassinating former President John F. Kennedy.
“Ted, when I make a mistake I admit it,” responded Scarborough. “You remain mired in shame because you kowtow to a man who called your wife ugly and said your daddy assassinated JFK.”
