Gov. Martin O’Malley is cheerleading for President Obama’s energy agenda in a conference call with reporters on Friday.
O’Malley will address Obama’s proposal to invest more in green energy production — such as solar and wind power — and reduce U.S. dependence on foreign oil by one-third in 2025.
The governor has been a staunch proponent of green energy initiatives in Maryland. For the past couple years, he has focused on jumpstarting the solar energy industry in Maryland and attracting electric cars to the state. This year, he is trying to push legislation through the General Assembly that would require utilities to invest in wind energy.
O’Malley will join U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood on the call.
