Pop the cork at Rockfield Manor

Get a taste of the world at the 3rd Annual Harford County Wine Festival this weekend.

The festival, hosted by the Rockfield Foundation, will feature 12 wine distributors from around the world, as well as food, unique artists, crafters and a silent auction.

“The wine festival is the largest event that we do,” said Peter Fernandez, foundation board member and organizer of the festival. “We see about 2,000 visitors over the entire weekend.”

The Kelly Bell Band, who have held the title of “Best Blues Band in the Mid-Atlantic Region” for several years, will perform from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday. Other live musical acts include Around the Block, known for their unique blend of rock, pop and soul, and local cover band Nothin’ ta Plunder.

More than 45 wines will be available from 12 wine distributors, including Fiore Winery in Maryland, but this event is focused on global wines, Fernandez said. “That’s the beauty of the festival. There are a lot of different world wines [for people to taste.]”

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Rockfield Foundation, a nonprofit organization that promotes and operates Rockfield Manor.

“The nicest thing about the festival is the facility of Rockfield Manor, it’s magnificent and beautiful,” Fernandez said. “People can relax and bring their lawn chairs and just have a good time.”
