Mayor Vince Gray has fired the D.C. taxicab commissioner.
In a statement, Gray’s office said Leon Swain has been replaced on an interim basis by Dena Reed, who has been the commission’s general counsel for the past year-and-a-half. Before that she spent two decades in the D.C. attorney general’s office, the statement said.
“Since joining the Taxicab Commission, she has begun a complete overhaul of the agency’s rules and regulations with the goal of bringing an outdated system up to modern standards,” the statement said.
