Brennan: I didn’t leak Trump dossier

Outgoing CIA Director John Brennan said Monday that he’s not the source of a report on President-elect Trump’s purported activities with Russia that Trump has dismissed as fiction.

Trump had accused Brennan of possibly leaking the dossier last week, but Brennan said the paper was never in his control, and that he wasn’t the one who gave it out.

“Was I a leaker of this? No,” Brennan told the Wall Street Journal.

“First of all, this is not intelligence community information,” he said. “I would have no interest in trying to give that dossier any additional airtime.”

It was later reported that a retired British intelligence officer named Christopher Steele put the document together.

Brennan said it was the FBI’s decision to tell Trump’s camp that the dossier existed. He also rejected Trump’s complaint that the leaking of false information about him is something Nazi Germany would do.

“Tell the families of those 117 CIA officers who are forever memorialized on our wall of honor that their loved ones who gave their lives were akin to Nazis,” he said.
