‘Farce’: Tucker Carlson urges Trump to pardon Roger Stone

Fox News host Tucker Carlson demanded President Trump pardon his longtime confidant Roger Stone.

A reversal by the Justice Department on a steep prison sentence was insufficient, Carlson argued on his show Tuesday evening. “A 67-year-old man with no criminal record caught up in the Russia hoax. Farce! Caught up in an investigation that proved to be fruitless,” he said before arguing that convicted rapists and armed robbers typically receive less severe sentences than Stone.

“But the Left, CNN as well, demanding that Roger Stone die in prison,” Carlson said. “This man needs a pardon.”

Trump also expressed his frustration about a “horrible and very unfair situation” with Stone, whom he has known for decades. “The real crimes were on the other side, as nothing happens to them. Cannot allow this miscarriage of justice,” the president tweeted early Tuesday morning in response to the original sentencing recommendation.

After the Justice Department walked back a prison sentence recommendation of up to nine years, suggesting up to four, instead, all the prosecutors withdrew from the Stone case.

Stone was convicted in November of lying to Congress, witness tampering, and obstruction of justice.
