An up-and-coming left-wing super PAC focused on “advancing a family friendly economic agenda” has committed to investing $23 million on behalf of Democrats in a slate of battleground Senate races this year, including high-profile contests in Pennsylvania, Arizona, New Hampshire, Georgia, and Wisconsin.
Family Friendly Action PAC, a little-known Democratic-aligned group that supports economic policies such as universal paid leave, expanded healthcare access, increases to the child tax credit, and government subsidies to counter rising prescription drug and childcare costs, told Politico that it would spend the money building a sweeping voter turnout operation that will primarily target suburban swing voters.

The PAC’s significant investment supporting Democrats in key Senate races comes as Senate Republicans are already struggling to keep up with enormous fundraising hauls being raked in by Democratic candidates. GOP nominees in must-win races for the party, such as Georgia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, are fighting to close a massive financial gap exacerbated by the Democrats’ impressive second-quarter fundraising numbers. Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL), the chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, warned this week that even though the national political environment tilted in the GOP’s favor, lackluster fundraising could put his party’s efforts to wrest back control of the Senate this November in jeopardy.
First established in April 2020, Family Friendly Action PAC’s political activities have been primarily funded by America Votes, a progressive 501(c)(4) organization co-founded by longtime Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards, and an organization called the “Sixteen Thirty Fund,” a liberal “dark money” group that the New York Times described as a “clearinghouse of undisclosed cash for the left.” The Sixteen Thirty Fund is also one of America Votes’s biggest financial backers, donating $27 million to the group in 2018.

Family Friendly Action PAC spent more than $15 million backing Democrats in the 2020 election cycle, including significant seven-figure investments on behalf of Democratic Senate candidates Theresa Greenfield, Sara Gideon, and Steve Bullock in Iowa, Maine, and Montana, respectively.
A spokeswoman for Family Friendly Action PAC did not respond to the Washington Examiner’s questions about the organization’s activities and fundraising sources.
