President Trump bragged Friday he has fulfilled a promise his predecessors did not by deciding to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
“I fulfilled my campaign promise—others did not,” Trump said in a tweet late Thursday night.
Included in the tweet was a video of former Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama stating they would recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel while they were campaigning for the White House.

The video ends by showing Trump promising during the 2016 presidential campaign to move the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem, followed by a clip from his speech this week.
“I have determined that it is time to officially recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel,” Trump said in his speech Wednesday. “While previous presidents have made this a major campaign promise, they have failed to deliver. Today, I am delivering. I have judged this course of action to be in the best interest of the United States of America at the pursuit of peace between Israel and the Palestinians.”
In addition to recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, the president said Wednesday he has started to take steps to move the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem, but signed a waiver to keep it in Tel Aviv for at least the next six months.
Moving the embassy is a process that could take several years, he said.
