The Batman showing in Texas interrupted by live bat

Holy interruption, Batman!

Audiences at a Texas movie theater sitting down to watch a Friday showing of The Batman had their film experience interrupted by a live bat that somehow made its way into the room. Heidi Deno, the general manager for the Moviehouse & Eatery in Austin, told KXAN he believes the bat was brought in by an audience member as a “prank.”

“Local animal control was immediately contacted, and they have been overseeing the situation to ensure guest, associate and animal safety,” Deno stated. “To ensure a prank like this does not again occur, we will be adding additional security and checking all bags upon guest entry.”

Theater employees attempted to get the bat out of the theater room but failed. One strategy used by employees in the video was turning off the film projector and turning on the lights near the exit to draw the bat out.

The theater offered all audience members a full refund for the interruption. Despite the live bat in the room, most of the audience stuck around for the full film, according to the audience member who filmed the video of the bat.
